Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Miami Gardens, Florida. In this role, you will support the Controller and Director of Accounting with day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in a variety of accounting processes. This position involves preparing financial reports, managing reconciliations, and assisting with audits while maintaining compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Responsibilities: u2022 Prepare monthly financial reports, including fund accounting and adhering to organizational formats and standards. u2022 Reconcile general ledger accounts, including gifts, pledges, contributions, and investments, ensuring timely and accurate recording. u2022 Assist with year-end closing processes and prepare detailed audit work papers and schedules for external auditors. u2022 Maintain and monitor balance sheet accounts through monthly reconciliations and ensure proper classification and assignment in the chart of accounts. u2022 Oversee the inventory of fixed assets, including tagging, recording, and maintaining depreciation schedules in compliance with policies. u2022 Manage capital and operating lease schedules, completing related journal entries on a quarterly basis. u2022 Monitor and reconcile payroll and fringe benefits, ensuring proper recording in the accounting system. u2022 Assist in the preparation, balancing, and reconciliation of the Universityu2019s annual operating and restricted budgets. u2022 Provide support for special accounting projects and serve as backup for daily bank reconciliations when necessary. u2022 Collaborate with various departments to communicate budget discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently. Requirements u2022 Proven experience with general ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations. u2022 Strong knowledge of financial reporting systems such as SAP or Financial Edge. u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. u2022 Familiarity with fixed asset management, including depreciation and capitalization policies. u2022 Experience with month-end and year-end close processes, including audit preparation. u2022 Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. u2022 Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with various departments. u2022 A bacheloru2019s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
