Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated Water/ Wastewater Area Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist to join our team in Pembroke Pines, FL and additionally support other Florida utility projects. In this position, you'll assist in the development, implementation, and administration of safety, health, occupational health, fire protection and prevention, and equipment and property protection.Our Health & Safety (H&S) Specialist job responsibilitiesu2022 Perform assessments of Health & Safety performance of projects within their areas of responsibility and generate of report including recommendations to the project in areas requiring improvement.u2022 Review and assist with training of operations personnel.u2022 Coordinate and providing training.u2022 Ensure an overall improving trend for key safety metrics in their area of responsibility TRIR, DART, RTW program implementation, etc.u2022 Communicate gaps in project Health & Safety programs if they are not corrected in a timely manner.u2022 Have specific knowledge of specialty areas (OSHA 1910 &1926, etc.) and perform onsite audits to ensure regulatory compliance.u2022 Are responsible for moderately complex technical work in a wide range of Health & Safety disciplines to achieve compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.u2022 Work under very general direction and independently determine and develop approaches to solutions. Responsible for implementation of field and office HS&E program and occupational safety and health regulation in regional operations.u2022 Monitor and prevent chemical, physical and biological hazards and diseases that could be present in the work place.u2022 May act as a lead person or technical expert and provide direction to less experienced personnel.u2022 Conduct regular walk through inspections and investigations in accordance with legal requirements.u2022 Work closely with site management on any procedural roll outs and site compliance.u2022 Identify and recommend resolution of hazardous/potential hazardous conditions and follow through to ensure corrections have been made.u2022 Investigate personal injury and property damage accidents; compile data, photographs, etc. and prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with accidents; issue various entry permits (i.e. to confine spaces) as required; conduct various industrial hygiene samplings, such as gas, noise test to ensure safe working conditions; may assist in conducting employee/craft and insurance inspectors on walk through tours; may accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours.u2022 Perform additional assignments per supervisoru2019s direction.Bring your team-focus, adaptability, and commitment to excellence, and weu2019ll help you grow what drives you - and deliver the worldu2019s most challenging Operations Management projects, together.#ourjacobs #bia #omfs #challengeaccepted u2022 BS degree plus an additional 5 years full time experience in a Health & Safety position; or a minimum of 7 years full time experience in a Health & Safety position in lieu of the degreeu2022 Previous experience in a construction and general industry environmentu2022 Experience with managing and conducting safety training presentationsu2022 Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Pointu2022 Ability to travel 25% a yearu2022 Possess a valid driveru2019s license with no major infractionsIdeally, You'll Also Haveu2022 Degree in environmental science, engineering, industrial hygiene, safety, or related fieldu2022 Bilingual English/Spanish preferredu2022 CSP/ASP/SMP/STS/OHST preferredu2022 Demonstrated interpersonal relations and personnel management skillsu2022 Experience in regulatory compliance, as well as all federal, state and local agencies requirements for Water Recourse Recovery facilities to ensure that facilities are operating within permit limitsAt Jacobs, we help prepare people for new opportunities and challenges.
