Shermco Industries is seeking a Relay Technician.Relay TechnicianWhy Shermco:Industry leading overtime program - rate structure which pays lucrativelyRobust benefits package for employees and family which includes dental, vision, disability insurance, and medical insuranceRetirement and savings programs with company match (401k and health savings account)Eligibility for annual performance and pay reviewsEligibility for various bonus / incentive programsShermco invests in employees by offering technical training (full scale internal workforce development program) and leadership training and career tracksTuition reimbursement programJob Responsibilities and Expectations:Installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, digital fault recorders (DFR’s), remote terminal units (RTU’s), and communication processors.Functional testing for protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors, and capacitor banks.RTU and telecom upgrades for various clientsExperienced with SEL microprocessor relays such as 311C, 311L, 387, 411L, 421, 487B, 487E, 487V, 587, 587Z, and 787.Desired experienced with GE microprocessor relays such as C30, D60, F35, L90, T35 and T60.Required experienced with various RTU’s and communication processors such as GE, Telvent, SEL, Cooper, and Novatech.Accurately reviewing, documenting, and submitting test reports used for client reporting and regulatory purposes.Interpret one line, three line, wiring, schematic diagrams, communication configurations with ability to recognize and bring attention to discrepancies.Accurately completes time and expense reports along with maintaining good condition of assigned company vehicle.Required Education/Experience:Ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in the electrical testing industry with a focus working with protection and control equipment, RTU’s, and telecom with HV utility, co-op, power generation, federal, or municipal clients.Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technology in similar discipline, or Technical school diploma, or military experience in either Army Prime Power or Navy Nuclear electrical program.Experience with transmission and distribution relays to include SEL, GE, ABB, and Westinghouse.Experience with substation RTU’s, communication processors, and telecom equipment for both brownfield and greenfield projects.Experienced with scoping, scheduling, and budgeting process for protection and control, RTU, and telecom projects for both internal and external entities.Experience with project management of protection and control teams working in HV substations for utility clients.Familiar with NERC CIP requirements.Requirements:Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodationsShould be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when requiredPass pre-employment drug test, and periodic unannounced drug testsMust be able to pass a pre-employment background check with 7 year historyHave a valid drivers license and meet minimum motor vehicle insurability standardsTake and pass 30 hour OSHA trainingAbility to work in a field environment subject to changing outdoor conditionsWork overtime as needed and willingness to travel extensively to client work locationsMust be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER | DRUG-FREE WORKPLACEShermco is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
