Summary This position is located at the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center (Albany, NY). The Pain Management Program Director provides administrative and programmatic leadership for the Pain Management Program. Responsibilities include clinical care, pain procedures, as well as overall administrative oversight including quality assurance for the Pain Management Program. Responsibilities The Pain Management Program Director is responsible to the Chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R).The position requires the pain medicine physician to provide direction, oversight, and leadership to the Comprehensive Pain Care Division of the Pain Management, Opioid Safety, and PDMP program office (PMOP). The incumbent will assist in clinical, educational, and administrative aspects of clinical care to the field. In addition, the position requires working knowledge of interventional pain management techniques, acute pain care, and chronic pain care. Further, the incumbent directs, plans, assists, and collaborates with all members of the PMOP program office to ensure appropriate and safe pain care for service members and veterans cared for at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Duties include but are not limited to: Functions independently as a member of the Medical Staff with full clinical privileges. Assumes complete professional responsibility for clinical assessments, patient-care decisions and documentation. Complies with local and national performance standards for Pain Management. Administers the facility's Pain Management programs, including operating workgroups and subcommittees. This encompasses expansion and submission of research proposals, accreditation maintenance, and resource and financial management of approved Pain Management funds and non-VA monies. Ensures that all programs within the clinical services comply with Pain Management policies with the applicable JCAHO, NCQA, FDA, ORO and other accreditation standards. Collaborates with Quality Management on quality assurance and performance improvement activities for all programs with the Service Line Serves as the Medical Center's liaison to headquarters' Office of Pain Management to include submission of proposals, reports and correspondence pertinent to the Pain Management programs function and serving on special task forces or as contract supervisor when assigned. Integrates the work of the Pain Management Program with other services in an atmosphere conducive to the delivery of quality and efficient health care. Qualifies for and maintains a faculty appointment at Albany Medical College. Other duties as assigned.VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. VHA Physician Total Rewards.
