Surgical Tech - Canton Potsdam Hospital OR (Full Time)

Description Job Title: Surgical Tech Department: CPH Operating Room Location: Canton Potsdam HospitalHours Per Week: 37.5 (with on call requirements) Schedule: 7.5 hour shifts, 7 am to 3 pm; variable days, weekends, holidays. Must be within 20 minutes to hospital for on call SUMMARY: Reports to Director of Perioperative Services through the Operating Room Charge RN. Facilitates the operative or invasive procedure by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical teamRESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Promote the mission, vision and values of CPH.2. Function as a scrub person during operative and invasive procedures by;a. Assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedureb. Preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedurec. Performing accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulatord. Assisting with placement of sterile drapese. Providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the proceduref. Maintaining an organized sterile fieldg. Ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as neededh. Preparing sterile dressings3. Clean and prepare surgical instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination area4. Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative or invasive procedure room and preparation of room for subsequent patients5. Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activities applicable to scrub person activities6. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health informationREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program One of the following credentialing or licensure options: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through NBSTSA Completion of a military surgical technology program Active LPN license in New York State Proof of at least one year of employment as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility within the four years prior to January 1, 2015 Current service in a federal government role performing surgical technologist duties American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification Minimum of one year of experience in perioperative services Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Must be available for on call duties and within 20 minutes of the Canton Potsdam HospitalPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.PAY RANGE: $22.75 - $32.53 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants.
