Summary The Miami VA Medical Center is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Nurse recruiter, responsible and accountable for all elements of nursing recruitment and retention processes, demonstrating proficient decision-making skills for complex situations that effect performance outcomes. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing recruitment processes based on specific components. Responsibilities VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards The Nurse Recruiter is located at the Assoc Dir, Patient Care section at the Miami VA Medical Center, the Nurse Recruiter is responsible to the assigned rating and approving supervisors and is accountable to the Deputy Associate Director of Patient Care Services (ADPCS). The Nurse Recruiter follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Is responsible for providing proficient, evidence-based practices in relation to recruitment and retention for a facility. The Nurse Recruiter serves as the key member in delivering and improving the processes of recruitment, onboarding, and retention of Registered Nurses (RNs). The Nurse Recruiter is a proficient nurse who demonstrates proficiency in decision-making and using the nursing process for situations that effect performance outcomes. Practice is enhanced through the identification, promotion, and evaluation of collegial relationships. This nurse acts as a member of focus teams and participates in the use of the group process to solve problems. The Nurse Recruiter utilizes clinical knowledge, skills, and abilities to personalize the experience for the candidate, improve the recruitment and retention experience for all stakeholders' and deliver compassionate nurses ready to provide care. The Nurse Recruiter will seek to develop strategic partnership with internal (facility leadership, current nursing staff, HR) and external (colleges, universities, associations) stakeholders to garner an applicable pipeline of candidates. The Nurse Recruiter utilizes their clinical practice to assess the knowledge and experience of the candidate to assure they are in alignment with the outlined job requirements. The Nurse Recruiter has knowledge and experience of the candidate requirements and will clarify information to ensure a best fit for the candidate and the organization. In conjunction with the Nurse Recruiter's clinical knowledge, they will utilize the nursing process to continually improve the nursing candidate's onboarding experience to ensure candidate's clinical experience and expertise aligns with the agency's mission. The Nurse Recruiter is responsible for analysis of recruitment and retention data to assist the facility with development of nursing workforce strategies and initiatives. The Nurse Recruiter will proactively work with the Nurse Managers (NM) to develop retention strategies, fostering a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. This Nurse Recruiter position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital. Some positions require rotation of tours or indefinite work on non-administrative tours as established by the immediate supervisor. Not all duties may be listed, so other duties may be assigned. The Nurse Recruiter duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Utilizes nursing knowledge to screen candidates to determine the best qualified based on expectations of the specific position. Uses the nursing process to improve the onboarding process for nursing candidates. Participates in the advancement of the profession through contributions to practice, education, administration, and knowledge development. Participates in recruitment and retention programs and other aspects related to the maintenance of a highly competent workforce for the facility. Collaborates in assisting the improvement processes, programs, resources, and services related to recruitment and retention. Maintains databases, prepares, reports, and works collaboratively with others to assess variances and project needs. Utilizes guidance in developing recommendations for systems and/or resource changes that will serve to improve the workforce and resource utilization. Works collaboratively with nursing administration, leadership, and Human Resources (HR) Management Service to meet resource needs. Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday through 07:30 am to 4:00 pm, requires flexibility in schedule and assignments. Telework: Not Available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized. Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards. Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process. Acceptable form(s) of identification will be required to complete pre-employment requirements (Effective May 7, 2025, driver's licenses or state-issued identification cards that are not REAL ID compliant cannot be utilized as an acceptable form of identification for employment. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
