It's more than a career, it's a calling. WI-SSM Health Outpatient Center-Madison Worker Type: Regular Job Highlights: R183738 Surgery and Care Center Hours are variable each day of the week. Monday-Friday. Hours would be 5:30 am u2013 2pm, 6:00 am-2:30 pm, 7:00-3:30 pm, 9 am -5:30 pm and 10am-6:30 pm. This position would involve registration of patients at the Surgery and Care Center and scheduling of surgical patients for St. Maryu2019s Hospital MOR and Surgery and Care. A newly hired staff member would work the two early and late shifts when starting. Typically, only one late shift a week once fully trained. Training into scheduling usually starts 4-6 months after hire Job Summary: Responsible for collecting data directly from patients and referring provider offices to confirm and create scheduled appointments for patient services. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES + Coordinates scheduling and referrals to other healthcare providers and services. Obtains approval for schedule changes or cancellations as appropriate. + Assists with maintenance and updating of provider contact information. + Ensures that all medical appointments, special instructions and patient information is entered into electronic medical system. + Follows site-specific protocols and maintains up-to-date documentation to ensure compliance. + Identifies process improvement opportunities and participates in improvement plans. + Works on special projects as needed. + May review the work of others. + Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION + High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience EXPERIENCE + One year experience PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS + Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. + Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. + Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. + Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. + Frequent keyboard use/data entry. + Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping. + Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. + Rare climbing.
