The Custodial Department's goal is to provide a clean, attractive and healthy learning environment. University employees are responsible for maintaining the highest ethical standards of conduct and are expected to practice professionalism, integrity, trustworthiness, respect, stewardship, compliance, confidentiality, and respect to maintain a safe and trusting environment. **About the Position** The Custodian, Senior position reports to a Custodial Assistant Manager and leads a team of staff and student custodians on a daily basis. This position performs vital custodial maintenance duties including emptying trash and recycle, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, extracting carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms, and finishing and buffing floors to maintain a clean environment within the University. The successful candidate will be required to work 11am till 8pm - Wednesday through Sunday. Employees clean in areas/buildings as assigned, which may change based on business need. **Responsibilities Include** 80% - Custodial Duties - Cleans Academic areas including: clean and sanitize restroom surfaces and fixtures including showers, collect trash, stock University paper and soap dispensers, vacuum carpeted areas, sweep and mop floors including stairs, sanitize high touch surfaces, damp dust horizontal surfaces, clean chalkboards and whiteboards in teaching areas, spot clean walls as needed, clean public garbage cans as needed, clean carpet stains as needed, clean entryways inc uding glass (weather permitting), sweep outside entryways (weather permitting), clean drinking fountains, sinks, and elevators, clean building furniture including classrooms, clean ceiling vents, remove gum as needed, extract carpets as needed, clean interior public glass as needed, hard floors cleaned, polished or refinished as needed. - Responds to campus custodial emergencies and requests. - Provides custodial support to NAU events. - Any additional cleaning duties. - Remove snow/ice from building entryways when needed. - Initiates work orders for repair/maintenance. - Reports malfunctions of bathroom fixtures, light fixtures and/or damages to room and hall furnishings to a supervisor. - Locks and unlocks doors as directed. - Moves furniture, equipment or fixtures as required. - Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. - Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. - Blitz style detail and project cleaning as assigned. 15% - Team Support Responsibilities Assigns tasks to complete daily cleaning. Coordinates custodial services. Inspects building areas to determine quality of work. Inspects custodial equipment to ensure proper maintenance and care is being fulfilled.
