Job Description

PURPOSE: The Quality Engineer supports PCC Carson City’s aerospace manufacturing operations by implementing, improving, and maintaining the site’s Quality Management System. This role develops and approves procedures, reviews customer specifications, conducts audits, and ensures compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements. The Quality Engineer also partners with production and engineering teams to reduce process variability, improve efficiency, and drive continuous improvement. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects, collaborate with customers and suppliers, and contribute to the delivery of world-class precision castings.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Quality Planning & DocumentationDevelop and approve work instructions from customer specifications.Approve part routers in accordance with PCC procedures and customer requirements.Review customer specifications and align them with PCC capabilities, negotiating with customers as needed.Conduct quality planning for new parts in accordance with the Quality Management System (QMS).Auditing & ComplianceConduct internal audits of PCC processes and the Quality System to ensure compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements.Conduct external audits of suppliers and support supplier development activities.Release product for shipment as an authorized Quality Representative of the customer.Non-Conformance & Corrective ActionsReview non-conforming material for proper disposition.Review returned goods for validity and itiate and follow up on requests for corrective action (RCA) from internal and external customers.Continuous Improvement & Team SupportPartner with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for reducing process variability and improving efficiency.Apply statistical techniques, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods to resolve quality issues.Supervise or mentor engineers or technicians on assigned projects as needed.Identify and address safety considerations related to assigned responsibilities.GeneralPerform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support quality and business objectives.REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports directly to the Quality ManagerPREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Science preferred) or equivalent experience.Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering principles, and materials science.Prior experience in investment casting strongly preferred.Knowledge of inspection techniques, auditing practices, and statistical methods.Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems and continuous improvement methods.Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with customers.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to sit, stand, and move between office, laboratory, and production floor environments.Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds fortable working in a manufacturing setting with exposure to noise, dust, and moving equipment.BENEFITS: Eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, based on performance.80 hours of paid time off annually, plus 10 paid prehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
