The selected candidate will underwrite and market Seneca products throughout the West Coast region. Candidates who currently hold a Property & Casualty license are strongly preferred. The successful candidate will be required to obtain / maintain a Property & Casualty Broker’s License and a Surplus Lines Brokers License in California and in other states.Responsibilities:Obtain Property & Casualty Brokers License and a Surplus Lines Brokers License in California and in other various states.Has responsibility for risk selection / rejection, pricing, retention, growth and profitability per objectives (New Business & Renewals)Analyzes coverage and limit requests and decides what terms to offer. Prices business in accordance with company guidelines. Applies independent judgement and initiative to support business goals. Maintains underwriting discipline by adhering to a bottom line underwriting philosophyRemain within designated authority and seek approval as neededDocumenting files appropriately with complete underwriting thought processVerify claims information from prior yearsAssess risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and initiate appropriate loss prevention actions.Develops and maintains effective business relationships with clients in order to attract and retain profitable businessPlaces reinsurance according to corporate guidelinesRequirements:3+ years of Property Underwriting Experience (5+ preferred)Experience working with wholesale brokersExcellent technical and marketing skills requiredKnowledge of market and regulatory environmentStrong communication, negotiation and organizational skills requiredStrong self-discipline, ability to work independently as well as a contributing team memberCollege degree or equivalent is preferred. ARM and CPCU designations are a plus. The annualized base pay for the advertised position, located in the specified area, ranges from a minimum of $61,600 to a maximum of $115,700. The actual compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the market pay for the jobs at each level, the responsibilities and skills required for each job, and the employee’s contribution (performance) in that role. To be considered within market range, a salary is at or above the minimum of the range.
