Bloomberg Economics - Geoeconomics - Climate Economist/Econometrician Location Washington Business Area Research Ref # 10047530 Description & Requirements With around 50 economists and 200 economics and government reporters worldwide, Bloomberg has an outstanding capacity to explain where the world is economically and politically, where it might be heading, and the ways in which geopolitical and economic forces interact. Bloomberg Economics offers a comprehensive macroeconomic research service for Terminal subscribers. That includes detailed forecasts, supported by thorough and original thematic research. We are seeking a climate economist with expertise on the economic impact of climate change and natural disasters to join our growing team. THE ROLE Youu2019ll join our trade and climate team, working with our climate macroeconomic modeler to quantify the economic cost of extreme weather and chronic climate risks. Youu2019ll develop tools to monitor natural disasters and assess their impact in real time. Working with country desks and CGE modeler, youu2019ll also integrate long-term climate risks and scenarios into macro forecasts. Youu2019ll publish concise research notes on the Bloomberg Terminal and may present findings through Bloomberg media or at client events. WEu2019LL TRUST YOU TO: + Track and assess extreme events and their economic fallout. + Build expertise and tools to integrate climate risk scenarios into long-term forecasts. + Publish timely, high-quality analysis on the Bloomberg Terminal. + Represent the team at client events and on Bloomberg TV and radio, depending on experience. YOUu2019LL NEED TO HAVE: + Degree in economics, econometrics or statistics, ideally with a focus on climate economics. A PhD would be a plus. + 5+ years of relevant experience. + Strong grasp of disaster data, climate projections and empirical analysis. + Excellent writing, communication and collaboration skills. + English proficiency. + Energy and the initiative to provide a consistent flow of original, high-quality analysis and to operate in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. WEu2019D LOVE TO SEE + Publications on climate change and extreme events. + Experience with geospatial or satellite data. + Python skills. + Experience generating content across a variety of formats, ranging from rapid turnaround responses to events to longer-term collaborative research. Salary Range = 130000 - 185000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
