The Patient Care Tech II will be responsible for assisting in meeting patient needs for all age groups (neonates, infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) in the areas of comfort, activities of daily living, clinical procedures as delineated, transporting and safety needs, and obtaining blood samples from patients according to established procedures and protocols. The Patient Care Tech II will communicate with team members in a timely manner about his/her observations of the patient's progress, needs and problems. Maintains established departmental/hospital policies, procedures, objectives, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety, and infection control. Works as a member of a unit based, multidisciplinary patient care team. Embraces shared governance nursing organizational principals by being informed of nursing councils' activities so that outcome, goals and objectives of nursing are achieved.Accountability will be monitored through direct observations; achievement of team service goals including satisfaction, quality, and financial outcomes; and performance improvement activities. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required Related post-high school education . (Examples: Unit Clerk, Medical Secretary, etc. or related course work.) Preferred Work Experience1 year full-time experience performing phlebotomy functions at Phlebotomy I or II level or phlebotomy competence or certification . Will also consider experience in other allied health professions requiring phlebotomy skills such as: LPHI or II, Paramedic, EMT or Certified Medical Assistant. Experience dealing with public demonstrating excellent customer service skills Required 1 year experience direct care/lab Preferred Direct Patient care experience such as Nursing Assistant, Dietetics Representative, Physical Therapy Aide, Phlebotomist, EKG Technician, etc. desired Required Additional Licenses and CertificationsBLS Required CNA or Phlebotomy certification Preferred Piedmont Augusta Hospital
