Our team thrives on collaboration, creativity, and high-energy teamwork—and we’re proud to offer a sign-on bonus of up to $25, (based on experience and commitment length), plus career ladder advancement to help you grow professionally.*Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title based on their experience and education.*Join a collaborative surgical team and advance your career with a leading healthcare system.Responsibilities:Teach and mentor new employees and students in both technical skills and surgical theory.Prepare the OR by setting up instruments, equipment, sterile supplies, and ensuring everything functions properly.Assist in patient prep, including positioning, draping, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures.During surgery, efficiently pass instruments, handle retractors, cut sutures, manage sponges and counts, and ensure a safe, sterile field.Support surgeons across a variety of specialties with strong technical knowledge and attention to detail.Maintain and oversee specialty instruments, lasers, and supplies, coordinate repairs, orders, and equipment maintenance.Serve as a Lead Tech—supervising daily workflow, resolving issues, and guiding surgical team members.Manage specimens, apply dressings, and assist in transferring patients to recovery post-surgery.Promote safety, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement in OR operations.Collaborate effectively with surgeons, clinicians, and cross-functional teams to ensure exceptional patient care.Serve as a trusted resource and preceptor for colleagues, supporting ongoing learning and professional pletion of a formal surgical technician program offered by a community or junior college, vocational school, university, hospital or the military.3 years of current Operating Room experience required.Advanced knowledge of at least 2 surgical specialists with 1 year experience in selected specialty desired.Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hireBasic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) OR Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC)Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewalAct 33 with renewalAct 34 with renewalAct 73 FBI Clearance with renewalUPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
