Residents of Garden City enjoy life in a relaxed, small-town (population approx. 30,000) with a zoo, several parks, golf courses, modern shopping and more.The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St. Catherine Hospital is an eight-bed ICU. We staff an intensivist 24 hours per day, we care for a wide range of patients from sepsis, COPD exacerbation, respiratory distress, pneumonia, heat failure, GI bleed, renal failure and overdose. We take care of patients with art lines, central lines, intubations, procedures and telemetry monitoring for floor patients as well. We occasionally receive over flow from the med/surg floor if they are full.Here, you will help advance modern nursing by providing your skills, experience, and commitment to compassionate care. The impact you will make in our faith-based, mission-driven culture will cultivate excellence and achieve professional fulfillment united in humankindness.As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will assume responsibility and accountability for:Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act.Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.In addition to bringing humankindness to the workplace each day, qualified nursing candidates will need the following:Education RequirementsAssociates Degree in Nursing required; Nursing Diploma or by endorsementBachelors Degree in Nursing preferredGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RNsExperience RequirementsOne year RN ICU experience requiredNursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialtyLicenses/Certification RequirementsRN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure CompactPhysical Requirements Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)PRN requires 5 shifts in 6 weeks. Must be able to pick up night shifts, which are majority of available shifts.
