Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is looking for you to join our Advanced Weapons Business Unit as a Sr. Staff Chief Engineer of the AARGM-ER International program. This position is a full-time onsite position in Northridge, CA. This role will serve as the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements (systems engineering/software/support/test) and lead a multi-disciplined team managing the technical performance of the program meeting cost and schedule requirements including subcontracted elements Responsibilities Include: u2022 Ownership of the technical baseline and oversees technical activities across multiple contracts within the AARGM International Program u2022 Support to the AARGM Chief Engineer for the technical baseline and technical activities across multiple contracts within the AARGM Program u2022 Maintain cognizance over technical activities within and across contracts for requirements development, hardware/software design, integration, and verification/validation activities. u2022 Solve technical problems and provides solutions that are technically sound and programmatically executable. u2022 Provides technical leadership, direction and mentoring to other technical employees in the application of systems engineering principles, tools, and techniques to achieve practical end results. u2022 Chair technical meetings such as requirements reviews, design reviews, and readiness reviews. u2022 Facilitate technical support, review, and approval of engineering documents and drawings. u2022 Support program reviews as an engineering review authority, and assist in resolution of program engineering challenges (technical, financial, and staffing) u2022 Drive process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives u2022 Ensures that the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, test, and sustainment of products for our customers and is compliant with company policies, procedures, and quality standards. u2022 Support assessment of cost and schedule impacts of technical decisions u2022 Be the technical liaison to the program manager to ensure successful execution to project budgets and schedules. u2022 Support the program manager in risk and opportunity management by identifying and owning risks associated with system performance. u2022 Interface with functional departments to secure team staffing u2022 Work with suppliers and be able to articulate project requirements. u2022 Brief internal and customer leadership on progress of work assigned. u2022 Act as customer interface for all technical and execution matters related to AARGM International Program activity. Basic Qualifications: u2022 Bacheloru2019s degree in engineering or STEM-related discipline with 14 years of experience, or 12 years with a masteru2019s degree and 10 years of experience with a Ph.D. u2022 Demonstrated technical leadership skills, decisiveness, and ability to make sound technical judgments with limited information. u2022 Well-versed, skilled, and disciplined in system engineering processes u2022 Experience leading design, production, and integration of complex systems u2022 Background in aerospace systems; working knowledge of aircraft systems, missile systems, avionics, software systems, and their design drivers. u2022 Candidate must have good communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and good oral and written presentation skills. u2022 Must have an active DoD Secret clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) Preferred Qualifications: u2022 Experience as technical lead, Integrated Product Team Lead, or other leadership role in a program office or business function with demonstrated team building, organizational, and interpersonal skills. u2022 Demonstrated ability to formally present technical solutions to senior leadership. u2022 Experience in Air-to-Air weapon systems development u2022 Experience in hardware/software integration of embedded systems u2022 Working knowledge of missile propulsion systems u2022 Experience directly managing or leading engineering teams Living in Northridge offers a perfect combination of urban living with the beauty of nature. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
