Machine Operator - St. Louis - $22.14/hr

Position Summary: Tends to fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming machines and punches that cut, shape and bend metal plates, sheets, and structures by performing the following duties: Essential duties and responsibilities: Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Sets stops or guides to specified lengths as indicated by scale, rule or template. Positions workpiece against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade. Activates and monitors machine during process to ensure accuracy. Performs secondary operations such as deburring. Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines. Records quantities completed and other documentation as required in work instruction. Performs spot welds. Follows safety policies and keeps work area clean and free of hazards. Essential skills and experience: Employee should be familiar with the operation of presses, press brakes, spot welders, drill press, hand tools, etc. Should be familiar with the different types measuring devices in checking parts: to include micrometers, squares, calipers, etc. Must be able to read and understand work orders to determine the operation being performed and the quality check required for that operation.
