ABOUT THE POSITIONVHB’s Land Development Intern - Watertown, MA is designed to introduce students into the workforce. The program will build essential professional skills by offering opportunities for hands-on learning in a supportive yet challenging environment. The intern program is designed to round out participants’ academic learning with real world experience and help them explore related areas of practice to find the best fit for their career path.Land Development engineers require a variety of skills to develop ideas and creative solutions that help make challenging development projects a reality. We are there at every stage of a project; from preliminary research, site survey, conceptual/final design, and permitting, all the way through construction. We work closely with VHBersacross disciplines, and consultants to ensure a project fulfills the needs of our client. ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with numerousVHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely mannerAssistin development of planning and engineering solutionsAssistin data mining and visualization Perform analysis of data or calculations Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activitiesPrepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reportsSkills and AbilitiesExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlySelf-motivated with attention to detailA strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieveKnowledge of drawing and mapping tools such as AutoCAD and GISKnowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) requiredQualificationsCurrently pursuing a degree in engineering or a related fieldStrong interest in transportation, land development, urban design, real estate, environmental, institutional, or energy sectorAbility to work on a computer remotely if necessaryAbility to travel locally and complete fieldwork if necessaryCheck out all the latest news and projects happening across VHBhere.Hiring Salary Range: The estimated hiring salary range for this position is $19/hr - $26/hr.
