For more information, please visit our webpage at www.flvisioninstitute.comThe Diagnostic Technician As an essential member of the ophthalmology healthcare team, the Ophthalmology Diagnostic Technician plays a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating various eye conditions and disorders and are responsible for operating diagnostic equipment to obtain images and measurements as ordered by the physician.Obtain a detailed patient history, including any eye-related symptoms, medical conditions, and medications.Administer basic vision tests, such as visual acuity and color vision testing, to gather essential information.You will also conduct a variety of specialized tests, including but not limited to:Fundus Photography: Capturing images of the back of the eye to assess the retina and optic nerveVisual Field Testing: Evaluating peripheral vision to detect abnormalitiesOptical Coherence Tomography (OCT): Creating high-resolution cross-sectional images of the eye's structuresA-scan and B-scan Ultrasound: Measuring the size and structure of the eye, useful for diagnosing conditions like glaucoma and retinal detachmentCorneal Topography: Mapping the cornea's curvature to assist in fitting contact lenses and diagnosing corneal conditionsA minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, although some positions may prefer or require post-secondary training in ophthalmic technologCertification as a Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) is highly regarded Strong communication skills and empathy for patient careProficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and softwareAttention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environmentKnowledge of medical terminology and eye anatomyIn Turn We Will Provide:Benefits to full time team members that include comprehensive medical, dental and optical coverage, 401k and short and long term disabilityCompany paid life insurancePaid holidays and generous paid time offTeam oriented working environment where you are heard and respectedClear career ladder opportunitiesESP#2
