Nurse IV (Associate Chief Nurse)- Ambulatory Specialty Care Services at Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Summary The ACN provides leadership and administrative oversight for assigned nursing units/programs. Functions as a leader, educator, and consultant, collaborating across services. Exercises substantial responsibility for population groups or integrated programs that influence the healthcare mission and cross service or discipline lines. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Key staff relationships are essential to: Assist Nurse Managers and Advanced Practice Nurses in executing their roles and responsibilities. Contribute to the development of standards of care, policies, and objectives to enhance nursing practice across the organization. Participate in policy-making activities related to customer service and clinical program operations. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to establish and maintain cross-service programs aligned with the organizational mission. Support the Associate Director for Patient Care Services/Chief Nurse Executive (ADPCS/CNE) in the administration of Endoscopy, OR Surgery, PACU/POHA, Cath Lab, Oncology, Outpatient Medical Specialty, and Sterile Processing Services. Provide leadership and direct supervision to Nurse Managers; assess, plan, and evaluate daily operations of assigned programs. Serve on Medical Center and VISN committees; follow up on sentinel and adverse events. Lead monthly meetings with Nurse Managers to align on goals and operational updates. Participate in Nursing Service leadership meetings and collaborate with other service lines (e.g., Behavioral Health, Pharmacy, Medicine). Monitor and maintain appropriate Full-Time Equivalent Employee (FTEE) levels to support organizational structure. Partner with the ADPCS/CNE in decision-making for clinical, administrative, and programmatic accountability for Ambulatory Specialty Services.
