AVP & Actuary, Insurance and Product Risk Management Location: New York NY; Bridgewater NJ; St Louis MO Setting: Hybrid (3-days in the office) Reports to: VP Chief Risk Officer - Retirement & Income Solutions Department: Global Risk Management (GRM) oversees MetLife's financial and non-financial risks to support responsible growth and ensure we deliver on our promises to customers and stakeholders. GRM achieves this through proactive advice, independent and effective challenge, and the implementation of strong guardrails. The Insurance and Product Risk Management (IPRM) team within GRM establishes an enterprise-wide framework for managing insurance and product risks. MetLife applies globally consistent pricing standards, jointly defined by Risk and Finance, which all pricing actuaries must follow. These standards ensure products are evaluated to optimize capital allocation, prioritize offerings that create shareholder value, and support MetLifeu2019s profitability goals while maintaining acceptable risk levels. The Role The AVP & Actuary, Insurance and Product Risk Management will provide insurance and product risk oversight for Retirement & Income Solutions (RIS) segment, focusing on product risk management, pricing governance, and strategic risk analysis. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to maintain robust risk frameworks and deliver actionable insights that drive sound business decisions. Key Responsibilities Lead risk assessments and product/pricing reviews across all RIS offerings, partnering with business units to ensure risks are understood, priced appropriately, and mitigated effectively. Review and challenge key assumptions, including mortality, longevity, policyholder behavior, expenses, and investment margins. Conduct stress testing, scenario analysis, and emerging risk reviews. Assess product profitability under varying market and behavioral conditions. Peer-review models and challenge ALM strategies supporting the portfolio of products. Embed strong governance controls and risk management practices into product strategy. Communicate complex risk issues clearly and deliver actionable recommendations to senior management. Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills Fellow of the Society of Actuaries 10+ years of experience in retirement product development or retirement financial modeling. Experience in life and retail annuity product development or financial modeling is a plus Strong technical expertise and broad business acumen, with ability to manage multiple diverse projects simultaneously. Proficiency in Asset Liability Management (ALM). Exceptional organizational, mathematical, and analytical skills, including actuarial modeling capabilities Ability to build partnerships and foster teamwork across diverse stakeholders. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively. Skilled at navigating conflict and balancing perspectives to drive progress. High adaptability and agility in a dynamic environment.
