Located in one of the nation's most iconic and dynamic cities, the University of Denver Sturm College of Law has a long and distinguished tradition in experiential education. The law school features a DU Bar Success program for graduates of Denver Law to aid in bar preparation studies with numerous practice problems utilizing bar exam materials. The program features workshops, mock bar exams, individualized feedback, and coaching. We provide a team of writing advisers to provide comments for improvement (instead of feedback, we call it feedforward) on every bar essay and performance test submitted to our program. We also provide one-on-one coaching to help graduates keep on track and make the most of the learning experience.Position SummaryThe Sturm College of Law seeks to hire part-time (hourly, non-benefited) Writing Advisors to advance the DU Bar Success Program through coaching and feedback, working with bar takers, law students, and recent graduates as they prepare for bar exams.This is an hourly,u00a0non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar yearu00a0and not to exceed 100 hours between November 17, 2025, and February 28, 2026.The start date is November 17, 2025, with employment ending on February 28, 2026 with the option to extend employment through July 31, 2026.Essential Functions- Work closely with and support the Program Director and Assistant Director.- As a writing adviser, provide individualized feedback to answers submitted by students from mock bar exams and workshops.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities- A high degree of professionalism- A strong commitment to inclusion- The ability to provide effective feedback to help students improve written answers- The ability to listen, understand, and problem-solve with students to overcome learning concerns and hurdles.- Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and to functioning in a high-paced, collaborative work and learning environment.Required Qualifications- A JD or equivalent legal degree- Outstanding written and oral communications skills- Strong organizational and project management skills- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and providing comments on word documents- Licensed to practice law in any jurisdictionPreferred Qualifications- Experience in higher education, teaching, instructional design, cognitive science, counseling, and affiliated fields.- Licensed to practice law in Colorado.- Preference for applicants who took and passed the Colorado Bar Exam in the past three years, from the February 2023 administration to the July 2025 administration.- Preference for applicants who participated in the DU Bar Success Program.Work ScheduleHours are flexible and could accommodate remote work.Application DeadlineFor consideration, please submit your application materials byu00a04:00 p.m. (MST) November 7, 2025.Special InstructionsCandidatesu00a0mustu00a0applyu00a0onlineu00a0throughu00a0[jobs.du.edu](
