Accounts Receivable Specialist Job Description The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for supporting and contributing to the daily operations of the Cash Application and Collections department. This role involves managing cash flow through the daily reconciliation of lockbox payments and engaging in daily collections activities within a high-volume, goal-oriented team. The specialist is committed to continuous improvement by enhancing the collection process and the quality of service provided to customers. Responsibilities + Maintain commitment to continuous improvement by enhancing the collection process and service quality. + Adopt new business processes that promote automation and reduce complexity. + Collaborate with Field and Central teams to identify and address root causes of past-due invoices. + Minimize exposure to bad debt. + Conduct proactive reviews of outstanding balances and identify risk accounts. + Manage assigned customer accounts. + Reduce outstanding past-due balances to meet or exceed targets for contractual accounts. + Investigate root causes for non-payment and implement solutions. + Compile and implement recommendations to improve Accounts Receivable, reducing past-due balances and remittance issues. + Report results to department management and Shared Service customers. Essential Skills + Accounts receivable management + Invoice processing + Proficiency in Microsoft Office + Cash application and reconciliation + Experience in collections within high-volume environments + Root cause analysis Additional Skills & Qualifications + Open to entry-level candidates or those with 1-2 years of AR experience + Experience in a high volume, fast-paced environment + Distribution experience is helpful + SAP experience is ideal, but experience with any ERP system is acceptable + Strong communication skills for phone interactions + Willingness to cross-train in both cash application and collections Work Environment The work environment is fast-paced and high-volume, requiring adaptability and efficiency. The role involves significant phone communication and offers opportunities for cross-training in both cash application and collections. Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly SAP, is beneficial. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $31.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
