In this role, the successful candidate Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs various clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Laboratory Department in order to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. Analyzes and interprets test results, and ensures accuracy of same. Repeat tests as necessary, especially those yielding abnormal or atypical results, and notifies appropriate personnel of such results.Job Responsibilities:Performance Expectations: Technical SkillsApplies a basic level of knowledge of methods and clinical relevance of tests performed in their area of responsibility.Performs all preventive maintenance on schedule in accordance with laboratory procedure.Recognizes abnormal instrument or test performance and does not release patient results until the situation is corrected.Performs basic troubleshooting procedures and seeks assistance when necessary.Monitors reagent and supply inventory and informs supervisor of needs.Works effectively in high-pressure situations. Arrives to work appropriately dressed, well groomed and pletes all hospital requirements at designated time (i.e. annual assessments, educational, MedNetTra)Conforms to policies regarding confidentiality of informationFollows call-in procedure when sick, late or absent.Minimum Qualifications:To qualify you must have a BS in Medical Technology which includes a clinical internship or BS in a related discipline with one year supervised clinical laboratory experience.NYS Education Department Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or EligibleProfessional accreditation preferred.Analytical skills necessary to analyze data and perform mathematical calculations.Basic knowledge of computer fundamentals and experience with laboratory information systems.Technical skills necessary to operate, maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and perform routine and complex testing.Effectively communicates detailed data and proceduresWorks effectively in high-pressure situationsExcellent organizational skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsPerforms supervisory responsibilities.
