This candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment, develop sources and story concepts, shoot, and edit stories on their own or with the ABC10 team. The ideal candidate is familiar with the latest video equipment, editing tools, and techniques to tell visual stories.ResponsibilitiesShoots and edits breaking news, general assignments, sports and feature stories for ABC10’s broadcast and digital platformsWork as part of a team or solo on daily news assignments; collaborate to ensure the best content is gathered and published on all platformsBe open to working weekends and varying shiftsMulti-task assignments while maintaining quality controlUse creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance storiesOperate live shots with TVU, Dejero, microwave or satellite truckApply advanced lighting skills for broadcastContact sources and develop news storiesAttend editorial meetings, participate in discussions and suggest story ideasTake still photographsDemonstrate safety consciousness and situational awareness on live shot locations and eventsQualificationsBA/BS in journalism, communications, or related field3-5 years of experience preferredClear understanding of the principles of journalismExperience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systemsProficiency with social media for news gathering (Facebook, Instagram, X)News judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skillsFlexible schedule, reliable and dependableKnowledge of ENPS, EDIUS, non-linear editing programs, and Axis graphicsValid driver’s license; ability to lift up to 40 lbs and up to 80 lbs with or without accommodationPayPay Range: $25—$28 USDBenefitsTEGNA offers comprehensive benefits designed to safeguard health, including two medical plan options through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, dental and vision care, fertility and adoption assistance, disability and life insurance. 401(k) with company match and vesting from day one.
