Ata GlanceLegrandhas an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant to join the StarlineTeaminCanonsburg, PA. The Cost Accountant ensures the accuracy and integrity of the company’s inventory and cost accounting systems. This role is responsible for analyzing gross margins across products, customers, and regions, and for developing cost accounting systems that support strategic decision-making at both executive and operational levels. The position also provides detailed analysis and reporting to support line supervisors, facility managers, and cross-functional teams, helping to drive financial transparency and operational efficiency.What Will You Do?Costing & Inventory ControlLearn and understand the company’s manufacturing processes to support accurate cost allocationConstruct and maintain cost accounting systems to support internal decision-making and external reportingDevelop and monitor direct labor, materials, equipment, and overhead cost structuresEstablish and update standard costs in the bill of materials as requiredCalculate raw material, work-in-process, and finished goods costsReconcile and validate inventory balances to the sub-ledger and underlying system data regularlyCreate and review cost accounting system controlsReporting & AnalysisComplete month-end closing and reporting procedures related to cost and inventory accountingMonitor and analyze Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) accounts and variancesProvide month-over-month analysis of inventory balances and related costsAnalyze costing data and prepare product and customer gross margin reportingPrepare product unit cost reporting and ad hoc price-cost analyses for specially priced productsInvestigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory and margin reportsConduct ongoing process constraint analysesBusiness SupportFacilitate departmental approvals for new item costs by identifying anomalies through daily reportsProvide cost accounting support to operations leaders, supervisors, and cross-functional teamsDeliver clear, actionable variance analysis commentary during month-end closeAssist in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as assignedEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or FinanceExperience: 3-5 years of accounting experience (minimum two years in manufacturing standard and job costing required)Preferred Skills:Proven analytical skills, organizational abilities, and relevant computer skillsProficiency in ERP systems (Infor Mapics Syteline preferred) and Microsoft ExcelAbility to collaborate across departments and comply with company directivesNote: The above Job Description is representative of the responsibilities and qualifications necessary to be successful in this role.
