Job Description

The RT(R), with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The RT(R) functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of practice. The RT(R) demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in practice, and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning.Shift & Schedule:Fulltime, Overnight Weekend Shift, Friday - Sunday, 7:pm to 7:00amESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONSPractices technology founded upon theoretical knowledge and concepts, uses equipmentand accessories consistent with the purposes for which they were designed, and employsprocedures and techniques appropriatelyAssesses situations; exercises care, discretion, and judgment; assumes responsibility forprofessional decisions; and acts in the best interest of the patient.Acts as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent informationfor the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient and recognizes thatinterpretation and diagnosis are outside the scope of practice for the professionThe radiologic technologist uses equipment and accessories, employs techniques andprocedures, performs services in accordance with an accepted standard of practice, anddemonstrates expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to the patient, self, and othermembers of the healthcare teamThe Radiology Career Ladder Radiology Career Ladder Policy is designed to recognizeprofessional excellence in relation to imaging. The policy outlines the process by whichthe employee will be evaluated to ensure that the employee is meeting minimum job levelrequirements to maintain their current level on the career ladder, a mechanism for theemployee to advance up the ladder or for management to adjust their level down if theemployee does not meet the minimum requirements for their current level. TheRadiology Career Ladder Chart Radiology Career Ladder Chart gives an overview ofeach ladder requirements while the Radiology Career Ladder Evaluation RequestRadiology Career Ladder Evaluation Request Form is where the employee documentsachievements and obtains approval to maintain same level or advance to next level.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:· Graduate of an accredited program of radiologic technology or trained in a hospital-based program that’s AMA approved.· ARRT registered or eligible - ARRT must be obtained within 6 months of employment.· Texas Medical Board license for Radiologic Technologists or in process of obtaining.· Total Joint & Spine Center initial and annual education: 1.5 hoursPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The individual must be able to:Ø Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff. The individual must use an assisted-lift device or get another individual(s) to assist with the lift that is over these maximum limits.Bonus -- Up to $45,000Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years experience.
