Payroll Specialist

Description We are looking for a dedicated Payroll Specialist with HR experience to join our team in Peekskill, New York. This Contract to permanent position involves processing payroll for a large workforce while supporting various human resources functions. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish and have experience working with payroll systems, as well as union-related payroll processes. Responsibilities: u2022 Process weekly payroll for approximately 470 employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. u2022 Handle payroll for unionized employees, applying relevant knowledge of union policies and agreements. u2022 Maintain employee records, including electronic files and documentation updates. u2022 Support HR functions such as onboarding, terminations, benefits administration, recruiting, and hiring. u2022 Assist with routine accounting tasks and payroll reconciliations. u2022 Collaborate with the HR team to address employee inquiries and resolve payroll-related issues. u2022 Ensure confidentiality in managing sensitive employee information and maintain compliance with company policies. u2022 Utilize Paychex or similar payroll software to streamline payroll processes. u2022 Work closely with factory workers, most of whom primarily speak Spanish, to ensure clear communication and support. Requirements u2022 Must be fluent in both English and Spanish for effective communication. u2022 Proven experience in payroll processing, including familiarity with Paychex or comparable systems. u2022 Knowledge of union payroll processes and policies is highly desirable. u2022 Background in human resources functions such as onboarding, benefits administration, and recruitment. u2022 Strong organizational and time management skills to handle weekly payroll cycles. u2022 Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism. u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. u2022 Previous experience working with a large employee base is preferred.
