Detained Specialist Paralegal -- Gian-Grasso Tomczak Immigration Law Group (Philadelphia, PA):Serve as the primary point of contact for detained non-citizens as well as their families and potential clients seeking consultation for someone who is detained by United States immigration authorities. Duties include: communicate directly with clients' family members to request and compile documentation; complete emergency bond filings as they arise; assist in preparing witnesses for testimony in bond proceedings and merits hearings; liaise with detention facilities around the United States to reach detained clients and prepare their declarations; monitor the online case portal for newly scheduled hearings for detained individuals and ensure both attorney and client's family are informed and prepared; maintain a caseload of clients with active immigration matters; continue to monitor and meet non-emergent case deadlines; ensure compliance with both the Immigration Court Practice Manual and local court rules for each court and individual immigration judge; inform clients of their constitutional rights in the event they are approached or detained by immigration officials, by relaying information provided by and under the supervision of an attorney; translate and certify documents for applicable cases; stay apprised of changing case law and executive orders affecting bond eligibility; and oversee legal assistants as needed.Requires an Associate's degree in Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, or a related field, 1 year of experience with supporting applications for immigration relief in removal proceedings, and near-native fluency in both spoken and written Spanish. Experience must include: compiling immigration court filings pursuant to the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR) Policy Manual, obtaining certified dispositions and other documents related to criminal cases, working with immigrants facing imminent removal and their close family members, and performing document collection and preparation in accelerated timeframes. Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours, including nights and weekends, to meet with clients and family members. Send resumes to:
