Position Summary:The Behavioral Health Clinician has the primary responsibility of providing clinical services within the Department of Behavioral Health at Campbell University, Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine (CUSOM). The clinical service line provides psychosocial support and direct clinical services for Campbell University School of Medicine graduate health professional programs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Clinical CareProvides assessment, diagnosis and treatment of psychosocial/behavioral health issues for CUSOM graduate health professional programs.Provides on-call services to CUSOM administrationProvides crisis intervention during normal operating hours CUSOM health professional programs.Appropriately refers clients to community resources if neededResearch and Scholarly ActivityMaintains knowledge of current literature related to mental health and behavioral medicine.Attends professional conferences as well as appropriate involvement in state and/or national meetings related to behavioral health and/or behavioral medicine.Engages in continuing education as is required to maintain active clinical licensureEducation/Experience:Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology or related field and NC clinical licensure (full or provisional) are required.Additionally, exposure to and experience with medical culture is preferred.Candidates with a degree in Clinical/Counseling Psychology must come from an APA accredited program.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.Ability to work as a group member and team player.Ability to prepare program proposals and academic evaluative reports.Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in emotional situations.Must demonstrate skills in mediation and negotiation.Ability to listen and communicate in a positive manner.Must be proficient in word processing and computer usage prehensive understanding of behavioral health and related issues.Experience and demonstrated abilities for working in an academic setting.Ability to collaborate and interact with health care professionals.Ability to organize, direct, prioritizes, and delegate work appropriately.Excellent analytical skills necessary for preparing financial, legal, and administrative tasks.Ability to manage time well and work under stressful conditions with an even temperament.Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the plexity of Duties:Complexity of duties will be commensurate with level of experience. Types of Contacts: This position is appointed by the Dean, School of Osteopathic Medicine, and reports according to the CUSOM organizational hierarchy. This individual will interact with faculty, staff and administrative personnel of the University.Decision-Making: This individual will provide guidance and instruction as directed by their immediate supervisor.Mental Demands: (complexity of duties, decision-making responsibilities, etc.)Ability to understand oral and written information and organize thoughts and ideas into effective forms of communication.Ability to make decisions which range from moderate to a significant impact on the immediate work environment, as well as outside contributors.
