Job Description:L3Harris’ Communication Systems segment is currently seeking a Sr. Specialist, Software Engineer to join our team.This position will be based at our Rochester, NY facility and offers a 9/80 work schedule.The Sr. Specialist, Software Engineer, designs, develops and extensively tests complex engineering solutions for advanced tactical radio operating system and waveform software. This position will require participation in all phases of the software development life cycle, while operating independently and guiding junior engineers.Essential Functions:Proficient with embedded C/C++, object-oriented design, real-time, multi-threaded programmingExperience with real-time operating systems (e.g. VxWorks RTOS, Linux, QNX)Ability to quickly analyze and understand large and complex existing software systemsAbility to develop software test procedures, software programs, and related documentationAbility to identify, track, and repair software defectsAbility to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment Ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideasMust be able to obtain a US security clearance Candidates must be able to obtain a US security clearance.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 12 years of prior related experience in Software Engineering.Preferred Additional Skills:Experience with Git/BitbucketExperience with continuous integration (e.g. Jenkins)Experience with the Agile methodologyExperience with wireless networking software system design and developmentFamiliarity with RF concepts and technologyIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $83,000 - $154,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
