Overview: The General Manager is responsible for the operation of three distinct manufacturing units on a multi plant manufacturing campus. The position has a large and diverse set of responsibilities including leadership and vision for the production units, quality management, maintenance, EHS, sustainability, cost management and customer service. The General Manager is responsible for a budget exceeding $75,000,000 for a 24/7 manufacturing site. Responsibilities: Reviews individual department results with the facility managers to ensure overall cost, quality and EH&S objectives are met. Develops goals, plans, and strategies in conjunction with facility managers that will produce results needed to drive continuous improvement in safety, productivity, quality and sustainability. Collaborates with various departments within the entire organization to meet customer and corporate objectives. Initiates, approves, and guides the design and management of local and corporate engineering projects with multi-million-dollar budgets. Reviews monthly operating statements to ensure plant performance meets profit objectives and analyzes data to develop improvement strategies for the location, Collaborates with facility managers to ensure orders are completed on time. Assists production in implementing process improvements to meet plant, customer and corporate objectives. Organizes and presents objectives, goals and plans to various levels within the entire organization. Plans, organizes and implements training for all levels at the location. Drives the site toward an injury free workplace through adherence to safety procedures and fostering personal accountability from each person. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Position assumes full managerial responsibility for multiple departments. The position has budget responsibilities up to $75,000,000 and no revenue responsibilities. Creativity is necessary to identify areas of improvement in daily business activities and procedures, collaborating with department managers and corporate partners where appropriate. This position fosters an on-going, effective relationship with the community and maintains the company’s position as a community leader. Position Requirements: Position requires over ten years directly related experience in production management. A four-year degree in a field of study such as chemistry, engineering, manufacturing management, is required. An advanced degree in business or a related technical field is desirable. Past success in identifying and nurturing existing and emerging talent. Previous experience directing multiple operating departments concurrently is desirable. Six Sigma and/or Lean practitioner
