Job Description

Copley Hospital, located in Morrisville/Stowe VT, is in search of a Forensic Nurse to join our team. Forensic Nurse Examiners (FNEs) conduct forensic examinations of victims of sexual assault in a compassionate manner. A forensic exam may include a medical-forensic exam, prophylaxis for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, photographic documentation and referrals for appropriate follow-up support.This is a Per Diem position (FT/PT available) wherein the FNEs enter into a pool of FNEs that will work together to respond to calls as needed.Copley Hospital has a variety of shifts available across Full-Time, Part-Time, and Temporary needs. An offer may vary based on factors such as experience, education, skills, internal equity, and market data. An offer of employment may be outside of the posted range based on those factors.Providing compassionate & prompt care and services to victims of sexual assault that takes place within Lamoille CountyConducting medical/forensic examinationsObtaining historical information regarding the incident and health status of the individual during sexual assault evaluationsAssessing and evaluating injuries that a victim of sexual assault has sufferedCollecting, processing, ensuring and maintaining appropriate chain of custody of both clinical and non-clinical specimens and forensic medical recordsPreparing complete and accurate reportsIdentifying and facilitating care for injuries that require medical treatment and making the appropriate referrals for follow-up medical and psychological careProviding fact and expert testimony on examination procedures, clinical findings and program policies/proceduresEnsuring compliance with all applicable policies, rules, regulations & goalsSupports the organizational values: Compassion and respect for Human Dignity, Commitment to Professional Competence, Commitment to a spirit of service, Honesty, Confidentiality and Good StewardshipMeets Copley Hospital standards related to: telephone etiquette, customer service, comportment, inter intra departmental relations, confidentiality, corporate compliance, patient provider rights, UOR reporting mechanism, QI, Code of Conduct.Develops and maintains human care relationships & integrates the influence of the human experience of health, illness &/or healing. Organizes multitask workload, accepts changes in assignment, utilizes supplies appropriately, requests assistance appropriately.Identifies & applies age specific safety needs when performing job duties in the following circumstances: disaster/evacuation, transfer of patients, minimizing security risks, restraints/immobilization devices, use of equipment.Integrates various aspects of specific knowledge for the patient populations served within unit area of hire: applies knowledge of expected norms in planning interventions. Demonstrates integration of knowledge, skills, and abilities for the patient populations served in unit of care.Other duties as assigned.The specific patient population may include children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, per appropriate certification.Education Required:Graduate from an accredited School of NursingLicense and Certification Required:Active Vermont RN licence in good standingBasic Life Support (BLS)Current qualification as Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner
