At times, may drive the students on trips/events.The Recreation Assistant assists with Water Safety programming (videos, swimming certification and swim lessons} and CIS documentation- if applicable. May provide instructions to trainees in various recreational clubs such as sports, poetry, drama, talent shows, etc., and other creative activities, such as arts and crafts.Mentor studentsinRecreationAideProgram to help establish life skills.Ensures that all programs comply with DOL requirements.Qualifications: Associates of Arts degree or one (1) year of related experience working with youth.Preferexperienceinarecreation/non-vocationalprogram.Must be flexible with work schedule to include weekends, holidays and/or nights.Validdriver'slicenseinthestateofemploymentwithanacceptabledrivingrecord.Prefer a CDL with passenger transport endorsement.Required to pass a drug screen in compliance with our Substance Abuse and Drug-Free Workplace policy.Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.Additional Requirements:Knowledge of a variety of recreation/non-vocational activities. Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Ability to communicate effectively and relate to the trainee population. Ability to inspire and motivate trainees. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Position requires an ability to operate office equipment.
