Description Job Title: Senior PhlebotomistDepartment: Patient Services Location: Patient Service Centers Hours Per Week: Full-Time, 40 hours/weekSchedule: Variable shift SUMMARY:As a Senior Phlebotomist, you serve as a laboratory liaison to patients, nursing personnel and house staff and assure excellence in quality and safety of blood collection and analysis.RESPONSIBILITIES:Patient Care. Provide patient with all necessary information about the procedure; ensure patient is comfortable and safeBlood Collection & Documentation. Collect blood specimens via venipuncture and skin puncture; ensure complete and accurate specimens for testing; prepare specimens for processing and complete any associated paperworkMentoring & Training. Mentor those learning phlebotomy with personnel duties such as orientation, training, input on performance evaluations and coaching for performance improvement; provide direction and assist supervisor or designee in facilitating the workflow to ensure duties are completed timely and accuratelyTransportation. Obtain the required specimens/labels and transport to specified areaREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:2 years of phlebotomy experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:H.S. or equivalent with specialization in Science related courses preferred. Data entry, Secretarial or billing background considered a plus.Knowledge of Medical/laboratory terminology preferred.PBT (ASCP) certification preferred.Clean NYS driver's license preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.PAY RANGE: $19.00 - $25.50 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants.
