Responsible for the management of shift employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment: plan and assign work, implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Requirements include a minimum of 3 years’ experience in plastic injection molding industry, knowledge and practical understanding of Cell Manufacturing and intermediate level knowledge of MS Word and Excel.Essential Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesDirectly supervise and coordinate day-to-day activities on assigned shift to ensure product conformance to customer specifications and scheduled delivery dates, ensuring the quality, production, scrap, safety, cost and customer service for the shift. Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignments. Assign work and train employees in work methods and procedures, and handle technical problems and employee relations issues. Manage issues related to employee attendance, performance, discipline, termination and staffing. Provide employee coaching and development to increase subordinates’ skills and capabilities. Supervise and coordinate activities of employees while maintaining daily and monthly quotas, assuring the highest levels of efficiency and quality. Write annual reviews of employee performance. Ensure database specifications stay current, verify set up of machines and maintain time and production records.Troubleshoot and resolve process/equipment problems. Implement policies and procedures and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures, working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) and cost effectiveness. Coordinate operations schedule with other supervisors and Plant Manager.Work closely with customer service, quality, scheduling and various other departments to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications and delivery times.Responsible for maintaining manpower within assigned shift at authorized levels. Re-assign employees during down equipment to eliminate unfavorable labor variances.Perform other duties as required.Essential QualificationsMinimum 3 years’ experience in the plastics industry, preferably assembly, clean room/medical assembly, and/or injection molding.Effectively apply lean manufacturing principles.Ability to coordinate work flow and oversee company and customer quality requirements.Knowledge and practical understanding of various assembly methods and secondary operations equipment. Knowledge of equipment setup, operating techniques, and troubleshooting. Knowledge and practical understanding of injection molding tooling and processing utilizing a variety of resins is a plus. Knowledge of molding machine setup, operating techniques and production machining methods are also a plus. Adjust, set and troubleshoot equipment. Knowledge and practical understanding of Cell Manufacturing and the ability to visualize and help design/develop tools, fixturing, processes to obtain maximum efficiency. Working knowledge of ISO, FDA, GMP, and OSHA standards.Ability to multi-task and prioritize work. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; be a team player; and have the ability to develop a team atmosphere.
