DescriptionDescriptionMilliman's Mountain Gulf Health Practice is looking for motivated current college students or recent graduates interested in a full-time or part-time seasonal (winter-spring) internship. Actuarial interns have the opportunity to perform data analysis to assist with consulting for various health insurance work areas, such as: Commercial / ACA, Behavioral Health, Risk Adjustment, Medicare Advantage and Part D, Medicaid, Dental, and more. Through our manager program, all staff members are paired with a dedicated manager to help support and celebrate the growth of each staff member.What You Will DoIn this role you will:Perform analyses using spreadsheets, databases, and other resources to clean, synthesize, and analyze data and informationCommunicate results to peers and project leadersReview the work of your peersPrepare and document project filesAssist with research and business development projectsGain valuable experience working with health care data using a variety of software applicationsOur goal is to give interns a broad range of real-life experiences and exposure to the work of consultants in our practice. Intellectual curiosity, teamwork, and a strong desire to learn are important drivers of success in our practice.What We Are Looking ForProfessional QualificationsCurrently enrolled and returning to, or recently graduated from an accredited University, or changing careers to the actuarial fieldWorking towards, or completed, a bachelor's degree in mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Economics, or another major with quantitative course workAt least one Society of Actuaries exam passedSolid understanding of basic actuarial conceptsAbility to work independently and within a teamEffective communication skills, with the ability to express technical concepts verbally and in writing to diverse audiencesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsPersonal QualificationsCuriosityStrong desire to learnExcellent attention to detailAbility to learn existing processes quicklyAbility to apply knowledge and concepts to a variety of different tasksStrong organizational abilities and time-management skillsPreferred QualificationsPrior internship(s) in health and/or actuarial-related work experience is beneficial but not requiredExposure to programming (R, SAS, SQL, Python, VBA) is beneficial but not requiredJunior or Senior standing, or recently graduated is preferred, but not requiredAbility to work independentlyIndividual(s) must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future.LocationMilliman's Mountain Gulf Health Practice operates under ne management group and works remotely across five locations - Denver, Houston, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco.
