AsJourneymanSystems Engineer, you will own the digital thread that turns brilliant ideas into flight‑ready capability forMajorRelease2 (FY25-27)—driving requirements, architecture, and model‑based systems engineering across hardware (Nomad), software (Smith), and operations (Watch).Essential Job Functions:Architect & Model the System‑of‑SystemsLead creation and upkeep of the government‑ownedSysML / CAMEOmodel, DoDAF views, and interface‑control documents (ICDs) that capture Nomad‑Smith‑Watch interactions with the Digital Infrastructure (DI), SATCOM links, and cross‑domain solutions. Required to input requirements into CAMEO.Ensure every requirement traces to a verification method and mission thread, supporting CJADC2 and Operational Imperative#2 objectives.Requirements & Baseline ManagementElicit, decompose, and manage stakeholder needs in DOORS‑NG (or equivalent); chair requirements reviews, delta boards, and configuration‑control boards.Maintain theTechnical Baselineand drive change packages through digital workflows, preserving model / document tegration LeadershipPartner with IPT leads to translate digital designs into IntegrationSIL builds; resolve cross‑domain, crypto, power, and data‑bus interface issues quickly.Feed lessons learned back into the model, ensuring the next sprint starts with an accurate baseline.Verification & Validation AlignmentCollaborate with Test & Flight‑Test teams to develop theVerification Cross‑Reference Matrix (VCRM)and ensure early “shift‑left” validation of safety, cyber, and performance requirements.Provide pre‑flight technical concurrence for Interim Authorizations To Test (IATTs) and air‑worthiness packages.Risk, Metrics & ReviewsMaintain the technical risk register, conduct root‑cause analyses, and brief burn‑down plans to senior DAF leadership.Feed schedule, maturity, and performance metrics into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and digital dashboards.Mentorship & CultureCoach mid‑level engineers on MBSE best practices, Agile/SAFe workflows, and DevSecOps culture in a classified environment.Foster a collaborative, “model‑first” mindset across Government and industry teammates.Required Skills:Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.A High School Diploma plus 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications as described in the Functionally Aligned Job Descriptions, 5 of which must be in the DoD or a BA/BS plus 10 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, 3 of which must be in the DoD.ActiveTS/SCIclearance.MBSE experience.Proficiency withSysML modeling tools (CAMEO/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, or equivalent)and requirements databases (DOORS, Jama).Demonstrated experience leading multi‑disciplinary design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and managing technical baselines in a digital‑engineering environment.Solid grasp of MIL‑STD avionics power, data links (Link‑16/22, TTNT, OMS/UCI), SATCOM, Type‑1 crypto, and RMF / IA compliance.Desired Skills:INCOSE CSEP / ESEPor DAU ENG/SAE LevelIII certification.Prior work onABMS, CJADC2, or other open‑architecture airborne networkingefforts.Familiarity with DevSecOps pipelines (PlatformOne / IronBank) and automated model validation (ModelCenter, Cameo Simulation Toolkit).Experience briefing SES / GO audiences and shaping acquisition strategy documents (AS, SEP, SEMP, TEMP).
