Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Powell is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer in Southeast Houston Our Manufacturing Engineers are the process owners that design and improve processes and procedures used for the manufacturing of Powell engineered to order products. This position is required to identify and implement processes that improve the safety, quality, and operating efficiency in a manner that supports the objectives of the Business Unit. Position Summary u2022 Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators. u2022 Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors. u2022 Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout. u2022 Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. u2022 Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements. u2022 Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. u2022 Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests. u2022 Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations. u2022 Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service. u2022 Maintains product and process data base by writing computer programs, entering data. u2022 Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians. u2022 Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. u2022 Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Job Requirements u2022 BS Degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering. u2022 Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineer role. u2022 Demonstrated proficiency with computer skills using Oracle and MS Office Suite. u2022 Demonstrated success with specifying, implementing, and manufacturing equipment. u2022 Demonstrated mechanical aptitude. u2022 Advanced knowledge using drafting/CAD skills with the ability to create and modify Factory Layouts. u2022 Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality System. u2022 Experience with either the Toyota Production System or Lean Manufacturing. u2022 Project Management experience, leading multi-disciplined teams. u2022 Proven track record of completing process improvements from conception through final implementation and ramp-up. u2022 Familiar with statistical test procedures and corrective action techniques. u2022 Excellent mechanical and electrical systems aptitude. Understanding of pneumatic, hydraulic, and servo positioning systems, as well as, and machine controls. u2022 Project involvement and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities. u2022 Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. u2022 Demonstrated simple analytical and problem-solving ability. u2022 Ability to implementing designs and solutions. u2022 Able to follow directed instruction. u2022 Able to lead change and respond to tactical changes. u2022 Able to prioritize and manage time effectively.
