Summary This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Responsibilities This position will support the Wound & Ostomy Team which may be located in Seattle or American Lake depending on team needs. Duties may include, but not limited to: Advanced Clinical Practice: Independently performs complex wound care procedures, including advanced dressing applications, negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) support, and ostomy care, in accordance with provider orders and evidence-based protocols. Manages a dedicated LPN/LVN clinic grid (as appropriate), prioritizing care and completing all documentation and encounters in CPRS by the end of the day. Assists with wound cultures, lab coordination, and patient education related to wound healing, skin integrity, and ostomy management. Measures and fits patients for custom compression garments and stockings, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up. Leadership and Coordination: Serves as a clinical resource for other LPNs/LVNs and support staff in the wound care setting. Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborates with PACT, Same Day, Vascular, and other specialty services to coordinate care. Supports curbside consults and facilitates communication between teams to ensure continuity of care. Escorts patients to other departments or the Emergency Department when necessary. Administrative and Communication Responsibilities: Responds to Outlook and Secure Messages, manages voicemails, and returns patient calls promptly and professionally. Updates the Wound & Ostomy Team using appropriate communication tools to ensure accurate information sharing across the team. Completes return-to-clinic (RTC) orders and assists with scheduling follow-up care. Quality Improvement and Education: Participates in wound care quality improvement initiatives, including data collection and tracking of pressure injuries and JPSRs. Assists with onboarding and mentoring of new staff, including orientation to wound care protocols and documentation standards. Maintains a clean, organized, and well-stocked clinical environment, ensuring readiness for patient care.
