This opening is to replace their current leader, who is retiring after a long career of outstanding service to this Kansas cooperative. Each has solid financials, great assets, and room for growth.Candidates considered for this position should possess experience in business management and leadership within the retail cooperative system. Agri Trails Cooperative plays a vital role in the communities it serves, and is therefore seeking a leader to live within its trade, including the communities of Manhattan, Salina, and McPherson.Primary ResponsibilitiesPartner with the Board of Directors to establish strategic direction and expectations, then create the organizational goals and system of accountability to exceed those expectationsOversee the risk management of the organizationManage the organization to maximize return for the members/patronsProvides effective communication at all organizational levels, including board guidance, leadership team, employees, business partnerships, community, and any related government or regulatory agenciesRelate to rural members with a high level of integrity and trustRecruit, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing teamKey RequirementsThis position requires strong financial acumen, lead a great team of department leaders and employees, and provide the organization with industry foresight to keep it moving forwardA bachelor’s degree in a related field, ten-plus years of Cooperative leadership or ag-business experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experienceA strong track record of performance in P&L management and departmental budgeting while serving in a leadership capacityPossess a fundamental understanding of retail cooperative operationsAdditional InsightThis position reports to a 9-member Board of Directors and is supported by a great team of veteran business unit leadersThe position is in Agri Trail’s main office in Hope, KansasA key component of this position is community involvement, so this position requires the GM to live within the cooperative’s trade area*Candidates must be eligible to work in the US as well as meet the qualifications listed above in order to be considered for the General Manager job.
