Applications Developer

Description Robert Half is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify an Applications Developer/Software Engineer (contract). In this role, you will provide primary support as the subject matter expert for z/OS operating systems and system components; provide direct technical support as needed in the planning, implementation and testing of releases, upgrades, or changes to z/OS operating system, network, and component software. This role is mostly remote but based in Austin, Tx. You currently must live in Texas to be considered. Key Responsibilities: u2022 provide end user support for assigned Independent Software Vendor (ISV) products such as BlueZone, primary administration and end user support for SCLM, and input and recommendations for hardware capacity planning. u2022 Provide primary administrative support for CICSu00ae and IMSu2122. u2022 Diagnose platform, software and related product issues and follow up with root cause analysis. u2022 Analyze performance issues and provide input and recommendations for capacity planning. u2022 Provide input and recommendations for system-wide performance tuning to meet required levels of service and system parameters and system libraries management. u2022 Provide support for technical consultation and inquiries from the other IT technical teams. u2022 Provide support as technical lead on internal team projects or participate on project teams that impact the z/OS platform. u2022 Provide support for Integration-testing new products with existing applications and user procedures. u2022 Assist with maintaining and providing technical support for Mainframe Production Control and Support Jobs and monthly Mainframe Job Scheduler Requirements Qualifications: + 5 years' experience with z/OS Systems Programming + 5 years' experience with JES2, z/OS Unix System Services (OMVS), Storage Management Subsystem (SMS) + 3 years' experience with TSS (Top Secret Security) + 3 years' experience with performance monitoring to include initial analysis of performance issues + 2 years' experience with REXX Preferred: + 3 years' experience with Informatica Power Exchange Administration + 3 years working knowledge for each of the following: u2022 z/OS Operation u2022 z/OS Networking u2013 VTAM (Virtual Telecommunications Access Method), TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) + 3 years working knowledge for each of the following: u2022 z/OS-centric automated job scheduling and management software (JOBTRAC) u2022 Terminal Emulator Software (BLUEZONE) u2022 VTAM Session Manager Software (VTAM/SWITCH) + 3 years working knowledge for each of the following: u2022 SMP/E (System Modification Program/Extended) u2022 RMF (Resource Measurement Facility) u2022 SMF (System Management Facility) u2022 WLM (Workload Management) u2022 JCL (Job Control Language) + 3 years working knowledge for each of the following: u2022 GRS (Global Resource Serialization) u2022 VSAM (Virtual Storage Access Method) u2022 TSO (Time Sharing Option) + 3 years' experience with TLS configuration (certificates, SSL u2013 RSA Keys, SFTP, FTPS) + 3 years' experience with SCLM (or other similar configuration management tools), specifically configuration and administration of SCLM + 3 years' experience with CPM for JOBTRAC Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.u00ae Robert Half is the worldu2019s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
