Employees in the Engineer II position solve complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with general supervision. An Engineer II is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer II effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is fairly complex and varied.The Engineer III position solves complex problems in engineering areas of specialization with limited supervision. An Engineer III is expected to develop advanced skills, and the ability to work with greater independence. An Engineer III effectively applies fundamental concepts and procedures to work that is progressively complex and varied.This position is a transmission line project engineer who performs various engineering activities associated with the design and installation of electrical transmission facilities for Duke Energy. The position activities include designing and routing transmission lines, reviewing engineering studies, proposals and programs, analyzing and designing structures and foundations, performing strength and electrical calculations, and preparing design documents, technical specifications, cost estimates and bills of material associated with the installation of electrical transmission line facilities.Job ResponsibilitiesProvides engineering/technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexityContributes to team decision-making in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activitiesDeals with changing priorities and differing situations and makes decision that may affect the work of the teamPrepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches related to well-defined problems and analysis of increasing scope and complexityConducts engineering and related studiesCompletes routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with increasing ability to independently manage project schedules and interfaces; increasingly competent to design, operate and maintain systems with moderate impact on existing systemsPossesses and applies the fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures, proficient in technical and analytical competenciesDevelops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activitiesDemonstrates effective verbal and written communication skillsMaintains accurate records and filesSupports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionallyBasic /Required Qualifications - Engineer IIMust have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited programMinimum of 2 years of engineering experienceA Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S.
