Job post summary Date posted:October 16, 2025 Pay:$19.00 - $20.00 per hour Job description: Job Title:Laser Processing Technician - 3rd Shift Location:San Marcos, CA Department:Production / Manufacturing Reports To:Production Supervisor / Shift Lead Shift:3rd Shift | 12:00 AM - 8:00 AM Type:Full-Time, Non-Exempt (Contract-to-Hire) Pay Range:$19.00 - $20.00 per hour (DOE) Job Summary TheLaser Processing Technicianis responsible for operating and maintaining laser processing equipment to support high-quality production output in a precision manufacturing environment. This role involves setting up laser systems, monitoring production runs, and ensuring all parts meet strict quality and dimensional standards. The ideal candidate thrives in an overnight production setting, demonstrates excellent attention to detail, and brings strong technical and mechanical aptitude to ensure smooth, efficient operations. Key Responsibilities Laser Operation & Production Set up, operate, and monitor laser systems during production runs. Load and align raw materials, substrates, or components for processing. Adjust laser parameters (power, speed, focus, pulse) to achieve desired output and part quality. Review production instructions and verify part specifications prior to each job. Track and document job progress to ensure production schedules are met. Perform daily machine checks and basic preventive maintenance to ensure consistent performance. Quality Assurance Inspect parts visually and dimensionally for precision, finish quality, and accuracy. Record inspection data and report any nonconformances or process deviations. Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to troubleshoot or refine setups. Ensure all processed parts meet internal and customer-specific standards. Documentation & Communication Log all job information, material usage, and process parameters in production tracking systems. Maintain accurate documentation for traceability and quality compliance. Communicate machine or material issues promptly to supervisors or maintenance teams. Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity and defect reduction. Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. 1-3 years of experience operating laser systems or similar precision machinery preferred. Strong technical and mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn complex equipment. Ability to read and interpret job travelers, technical drawings, and part specifications. Excellent attention to detail, quality, and consistency. Basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking. Strong communication and problem-solving abilities. Reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently overnight. Preferred Qualifications Experience in laser cutting, engraving, or precision manufacturing environments. Familiarity with CNC operation or other automated machinery. Understanding of ISO 9001 or other quality management systems. Training or certification in laser safety (a plus). Work Environment Climate-controlled production facility with moderate noise levels. Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to operate machinery. No heavy lifting required. Overnight shift schedule:12:00 AM - 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday.
