Summary This position is located in the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service at VA Loma Linda Healthcare System. The staff audiologist conducts a full range of audiological evaluations to determine the type and degree of hearing loss, determines patients' need for amplification, predicts and measures the effectiveness of amplification, and determines need for and type of rehabilitation and counseling of veterans with hearing loss and their families. Responsibilities Major duties include, but are not limited to: Conducting, planning and coordinating a full range of clinical and administrative services associated with contemporary audiology practices. Providing a full range of audiological services, including (but not limited to) the selection and fitting of hearing aids or other amplification devices, aural (auditory) rehabilitation, and counseling of hearing-impaired veterans and their families. Identifying and evaluating individuals with hearing disorders related to the reception and perception of speech, language and other acoustic signals for a full range of patient complexity, administering the full range of comprehensive audiologic tests, evaluating the type and degree of hearing loss for patients who may be unable to provide consistent and reliable reactions to diagnostics. Instructing patients regarding their hearing loss and treatment. Referring patients to other medical services as necessary. Planning, delivering, and monitoring the effectiveness and clinical outcomes of patient-centered treatment and rehabilitative services for patients with significant physical and psychological complicating conditions. Planning, conducting and coordinating aural (auditory) rehabilitation and counseling to hearing aid. Designing patient-centered treatment plans to assist patient and caregivers to maximize and restore to the greatest extent possible physical and social functioning. Completing all documentation in a timely fashion and in accordance with facility policy; writing clear and concise notes in the patient's CPRS file. Remaining current with new developments in audiology via professional journals, continuing educational activities and professional learning experiences, and via communication with other professionals in the audiology field and other related professions. Attending regular staff meetings and inter-disciplinary health care team meetings as appropriate, reviewing policies and procedures, and attending in-service training. Performing ancillary assignments, including program management duties on an occasional basis, where the complexity and amount of the work is not substantial. Incumbent will have and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the processes for Reusable Medical Equipment (RME) including knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which document the processes and procedures for cleaning, disinfection, sterilization and preparation of Reusable Medical Equipment. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 0730-1600 Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
