The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston seeks applicants for the Claire W. and Richard P. Morse Fellowship for Advanced Training in Conservation of Works of Art on Paper. This two-year appointment begins in fall 2026 and may be extended for a third year. Position Overview: Under the general direction of the Head of Paper Conservation: u2022 Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Deknatel Paper Conservation Lab and participate in a wide range of conservation activities generated by an active museum environment. Essential Functions: u2022 Undertake research, in-depth examination, and treatment of artworks. u2022 Participate in documentation of artwork, preventive conservation, and storage and exhibition planning. u2022 Work in collaboration with conservators, conservation scientists, collections care specialists, curators, and other staff on projects as assigned. Secondary Functions: u2022 Conservation and Scientific Research at the MFA is a public-facing department that embraces opportunities to engage with visitors, and the Fellow is encouraged to contribute to community engagement activities. u2022 Included in the fellowship is the opportunity to carry out a publishable research project. Requirements and Characteristics: u2022 Graduate degree in conservation from a recognized program, and a minimum of one year of practical experience beyond graduation u2022 Excellent written, photo documentation, and communication skills u2022 Ability to work collaboratively and excel as part of a team and in a rapidly-paced and changeable environment The Museum reserves the right to change job descriptions.
