With an emphasis on safety, this includes staffing, training, planning, scheduling, day-to-day operations, interdepartmental relations, and guest service. The Assistant Manager of Ski Patrol is responsible for implementing programs toward the safety of our guests and employees, supervising medical aid, snow safety, rope rescue, lift evacuation and accident investigation. The job requires strong leadership qualities, and creative problem-solving.Job Specifications:Starting Salary: $58,000-$62,000Employment Type: Year-RoundShift Type: Full Time hours availableMinimum Age: At least 18 years of ageHousing Availability: NoJob Responsibilities:To support the development, coaching and best practices of a high performing ski patrol teaTo help align the patrol leadership team and line patrol with Vail Resorts goals, values and core competenciesBe a leader in the effort to improve safety within Ski Patrol and the resort as a whole with the goal of reducing/eliminating worker and guest injurySupport and provide oversight for Patrol Leads in their daily and seasonal operational duties.Support and conduct performance management for Leads and staffFacilitate training and support team members in compliance with Vail Resorts standards and Mount Snow Ski Patrol protocolsEnsures accountability to organizational policies and the highest possible work standards.Support budget planning and help track performance to expectationsCreate a positive work culture that commits to providing an Experience of a Lifetime for each and every employee and guestSupport operational excellence through continuous communication within Patrol department and Mountain OperationsSupports departmental training programsCoordinates with Patrol Manager and Health and Safety dept to lead a specialized team of accident investigatorsBe a leader in the Slope Safety program and support the best practices in regard to marking and paddingSupport and maintain efficient and timely scheduling within Patrol and intra-departmentallySupports Patrol Leadership staff with candidate/apprentice programsSupport and conduct a mentorship programOther duties as assignedJob Requirements:OEC certification5 years patrol experience3 years’ experience in a leadership role preferredProficiency with Microsoft Office and VR applications (Gensuite, Coupa, Concur, etc)Must work weekends and holidays as requiredStrong communication skillsStrong financial management, leadership and team building skills, expert skiing/riding ability, must be able to work in extreme weather conditions (winter/summer)Positive, solutions-oriented leadership practicesIndustrial climbing experience preferredThe expected pay range is$52,000 - $73,895.79. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position.
