Job Description : The Production Support position provides technical oversight, troubleshooting, and support for performance scheduled in the following spaces managed by the Theatre and Dance Department: The Other Room Theatre, The Green Room Theatre, The Schnader Theatre (Roschel Performing Arts Center). This position requires generalist technical theatre knowledge; work will be a mixture of collaborative and independent assignments as-needed for events and performances. Essential Functions: Technical Theatre, Lighting: Record and adjust lighting cues as needed, operate lighting board as needed. Perform channel checks, blackout checks, and troubleshoot any inconsistencies before events/performances (cabling fixes, bulb/gobo/color changeouts, etc)Technical Theatre, Sound: Record and adjust sound cues as needed in QLab, operate sound board as needed. Perform speaker checks, level checks, general equipment checks, and troubleshoot any inconsistencies before events/performances.Technical Theatre, Stage Management: Attend and run (in collaboration with Lighting Designer) technical rehearsals. Create run lists and run sheets, create and maintain accurate cue sheet, call cues throughout performance, coordinate all backstage crew and other personnel.Technical Theatre, Run Crew: Maintain an accurate list, including relevant timing, for any offstage needs in support of performance. This may include: components of scenic changes, assistance/timing for special effects, rigging needs, etc.Oversee the use of theatrical spaces by groups outside the Theatre and Dance Department, and ensure their compliance throughout with the space regulations: proper use and maintenance of dressing rooms, other backstage spaces, sound equipment, lighting equipment, projection equipment, regulations set by fire marshall, etc. Ensure timely strike of event-specific items and materials.Perform performance space-checks when needed, outside the working hours of full-time Theatre and Dance Department staff. This includes: ensuring equipment is functioning correctly, ensuring room/theatre resources are in good working order, confirming that non-supervised groups have followed guidelines, submitting work orders as needed.All other duties as assigned. Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED.1-3 years of experience with Technical-theatre skill-sets, including: sound, lighting, video, run crew, rigging, and stage management.Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential. Preferred Qualifications: Vocational or technical training/degree in Technical Theatre or related field.Associate's degree.Bachelor's degree.4-7 yearsof experience with Technical-theatre skill-sets, including: sound, lighting, video, run crew, rigging, and stage management.
