Job Description

The Quality Engineer optimizes the quality of Bruno products by acting as a key liaison between engineering, manufacturing, assembly, test, & packaging operations, and supply chain management.Provides input to product documentation such as drawings, specifications, and inspection and testing methods and plans.Supports internal operations by educating employees, working to resolve product and process quality issues, and tracking, trending, & reporting performance data.Communicates quality plans, quality issues, and performance data to suppliers in support of new product introductions as well as serial production.QUALITY CONTROL AND ASSURANCEDefine quality standards, create inspection plans, develop test methodsImplement statistical process control methods and techniques to monitor and control manufacturing processesInspect raw materials, components, assemblies, and processes, either personally or utilizing Quality Technicians, to ensure that requirements are metEnsure calibration of gages and measuring equipment is in compliance and records are maintainedTrack performance data, analyze results, and generate reports to identify areas for improvementPROBLEM SOLVING AND IMPROVEMENTInvestigate non-conformances to determine root cause, recommend corrective actionsLead cross-functional problem-solving teams to address complex issuesImplement corrective & preventive actions and verify outcomes - both internally and with suppliersIdentify opportunities for improvement in manufacturing processes and product qualityCOLLABORATION AND COMPLIANCECollaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other teams to ensure quality is integrated throughout the product life cycleInteract with suppliers, including supplier visits, to facilitate effective communicationMaintain detailed documentation, including quality plans, inspection reports, and validation protocolsCommunicate with internal departments, suppliers, auditors, etc. in verbal and written formatMaintain knowledge of industry regulations and standards to ensure the company remains compliantIdentify gaps in the Quality Management System and initiate updates to address the gapTrain others in quality processes, procedures, and toolsParticipate in interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding new employees as appropriateBachelor’s degree in quality, engineering, manufacturing, and a minimum of 3-years’ experience in QualityCertification to a recognized body of knowledge, such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer is preferredWork experience in the relevant areas, along with increasing responsibilities over timeProblem solving, corrections, corrective action and project managementAdvanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)Quality Management Systems, such as ISO-9001 or ISO-13485Knowledge of inspection equipment and techniques, engineering drawing standards, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)Process knowledge, including machining, forming, welding, fabrication, plastics, castings, electro-mechanical assembly, test, and packagingLean manufacturing concepts in a low volume, high mix environment such as 5-S, kanban, one-piece flow and error-proofingSkills and Abilities:Read, analyze, and interpret a variety of information, such as technical procedures, business correspondence, and governmental regulations furnished in written, oral or diagram form.Create business-level written correspondence and verbally present information to internal and external professionals.Requires job related software skills, Smartsheet, PcDIMIS, Polyworks, CAD such as SolidWorks, MS Office and the ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment.Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Share duties between an office environment and a modern production and manufacturing facilities with heat and air conditioningRegularly required to move around, sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle, and touch; see, talk and hearThe employee is required to travel between facilities as well as occasional travel to supplier locationsThe employee is required to lift up to 10 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally
