Yes County Albany Street Address 50 Wolf Rd., Flr 3 City Albany State NY Zip Code 12205 Duties Description Under the direction of an Information Technology Specialist 3 (DC), within the Chief Technology Office/Enterprise Network Services/Voice Operations group, the Information Technology Specialist 2 will be responsible for advanced analysis, engineering, implementation, and support of technologies within the UniteNY IP telephony and virtual meetings applications environment as well as our Legacy PBX Systems. The Unite NY environment has grown to support statewide customers, two data centers that are geographically separated, a highly complex core infrastructure and the enterprise video solution. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:u2022 Perform provisioning (Move, Add, Change, Delete u2013 MACD) and incident support for ITS telephony, video conferencing, and online meetings environments;u2022 Triage ITSM resolver queues to ensure incidents and service requests are handled in a timely fashion;u2022 Coordinate with system vendors and carriers for MACD support and trouble ticket break/fix work;u2022 Implement and support changes to ITS telephony, video conferencing, and online meetings environments; to include development of service notifications and related communications;u2022 Work with ITS project teams to ensure timely, complete, and appropriate delivery of services to ITS clients;u2022 Review business requirements documents to ensure UniteNY user needs are met and delivered on time;u2022 Develop and maintain system documentation, including detailed written technical procedures and reports;u2022 Working outside of normal business hours and on-call may be required due to the 24x7x365 nature of the systems supported by this team as well as the nature of the work required to implement services; andu2022 Occasional travel may be required. Minimum Qualifications Open Competitive: A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.OR A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology;OR 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology.OR Two years of professional experience in information technology.Promotion: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, Salary Grade (SG) 14.Transfer: Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2 or Information Technology Specialist 2 Programming, G-18; OR in a title G-16 or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.Please note:u2022 Appointment to this position and continued employment with the agency is contingent upon obtaining and/or maintaining New York State residency within six months of hiring.u2022 Appointment to this position is not final until all agency approvals have been granted. Additional Comments ITS will not offer permanent employment to any candidate unless the candidate provides documentation that they are authorized to accept work in the United States on a permanent basis. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non- competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. In May 2024, if a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin.At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.
