The de Groen Laboratory uses in silico systems to analyze, model, and simulate endoscopic procedures. The current focus of the research is the quality of colonoscopy and the possibility that real-time feedback can change the quality in the actual endoscopy practice. Work in the lab also focuses on technology development to facilitate our investigations. Analyze endoscopic results obtained through EMIS (Electronic Multimedia Information System), which captures endoscopic procedure footage in real time. Provide training to research coordinators and staff at institutions participating in nationwide study. Independently identifies and assesses technical issues and ensures study compliance at participating sites. Serves as primary contact person for study related questions from participating sites. The incumbent will provide critical support to lab members by performing basic laboratory tasks (keeping workstations up-to-date, handling and analyzing video files from the multi-center study, managing data storage, and assisting with administrative tasks (e.g., scheduling, assistance with grant preparation, IRB reports, daily laboratory logistics, teleconferences, and other laboratory personnel training once trained). Responsibilities 40% Analyze/annotate various procedures for different disease activity and quality of inspection i.e. polypectomy, Ulcerative Colitis, IBD etc. Work on training sets for future AI implementation which requires highly experienced endoscopist detection. Serve as project manager for national NIH grant to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies. 25% Write, revise and manage protocols. Maintain activity of several research studies through work as both Study Coordinator and Study Manager. Maintain and manage interdisciplinary research projects via OnCore/ETHOS/REDCap. Serve as primary contact for participating sites. 10% Maintain data collection for NIH study sites. Act as lab manager and train others in laboratory practices and (Safety) procedures. Ensure protocols are being adhered to at all participating study sites. 15% Provide support to others working in the laboratory, visitor requests, appointment extensions, and other related correspondence. Handle shipments of research equipment of other sites. Handle purchase and expense administration. Support of others working in the laboratory, visitor requests, appointment extensions, and other related correspondence on behalf of the PI. Coordinate communication with IRB, AHC-IT, Fairview-IT, and NIH-site study coordinators and IT departments; the same for industry-sponsored studies. 10% Train and teach other Study Coordinators and students on EMIS software. Independently schedule progress report meetings to ensure study coordinator and/or student is competent and reliable for future applications. Qualifications All required qualifications must be included in the application materials Required Qualifications: - BA/BS in Biological Sciences or a related field with at least 2 years of experience or a combination of education and experience to equal six years. - Excellent computer skills to include proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, etc. - Cooperative, highly motivated and team-oriented individual with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and thoroughness in work product, who will keep industry-standard records. - Ability to work independently once required skill set has been acquired. - Excellent in erpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of faculty, staff, students, researchers (both domestic & international) and industrial partners. Tact and diplomacy are also necessary as the job will require bringing various groups and institutions together who are not set up to work together yet. - Proven ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. - The capability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Excellent work ethic. Pay and Benefits Pay Range: $20 - $35 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
